Starting Monday, May 9th through Thursday, May 12th we are asking that you Support Fibromyalgia at Capitol Hill by calling, emailing, and using social media to reach your senators and representatives. On May 11th advocates from around the country will be joining together for a virtual Hill Day. Please rally your state to gain more attention for Fibromyalgia. We can’t allow federal funding for Fibromyalgia to stay very low! We are overdue for a sustained increase and an overhaul on the way our public health agencies define Fibromyalgia. We need a proper classification of Fibromyalgia and we need to ensure that research of treatments can be translated to the doctor’s office. Making treatment options and accessible and affordable to all patients. Join us for a new era of advocacy for Fibromyalgia!

This year we have a new direct option to message your Congressional Leaders. Give it a try!

ADVOCACY BY PHONE / EMAIL

The phone numbers of the offices of your senators and representatives are available on their websites. You can also call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask for your senators’ and/or representative’s office.

Remember that telephone calls are usually taken by a staff member, not the member of Congress.

Your Personal Script:

Hello, My name is (First & Last), and I am from (City & State).

I am calling today to support Fibromyalgia Delegates meeting virtually on Capitol Hill on May 11th. We are requesting a sustained increase in funding for Fibromyalgia specific research and an appropriations request for funding to go towards the reclassification of Fibromyalgia at the NIH. Please help us preserve research funding for Fibromyalgia which afflicts between 4-12 million patients like myself [or if calling on behalf of someone].

Share your story briefly. If you have specific expertise in an issue, make sure the staffer knows that.

Fibromyalgia’s cause is still unknown and there is no cure. Patients have a lower quality of life. Please urge Representative/Senator {LAST NAME} to support Fibromyalgia patients by opening up funding for proper classification and specific Fibromyalgia treatments that be can be affordably translated into the doctor’s office.

Thank you for your consideration of my views.
